Safety & Compliance

Safety isn’t negotiable—it’s our foundation.

We've done this thousands of times without a safety incident. BBP training, single-use equipment, $2M liability, and city-by-city permitting — all of it stays with us. You get the activation, not the risk.

Our Standards

How We Protect Your Brand, Guests And Venue

Licensed artists, single-use disposables, full insurance, and a crew that knows how to work a room. Here's how we keep it clean.

Artist Credentials

Every Artist is BBP-Certified

Every artist in our network holds current Bloodborne Pathogen certification and an active body art license. We handle individual practitioner registrations for each artist in the county or city hosting the popup — so the right people are on file, in the right place, before the event starts.

Clinical Sterilization

100% Single-Use Disposables

No autoclaved tubes. No reused equipment. Every component that touches a guest — needle cartridges, ink caps, razors, barriers, table covers — is opened from sterile packaging and discarded after a single use. Biohazard waste leaves with us in OSHA-approved sharps containers.

Municipal Permitting

Health Department Permits, Handled

Body art is heavily regulated, and large-scale events take 30-60 days to permit. We file the applications, pay the fees, design the floor plan (including hot water access), and schedule the inspection. You don't have to learn your city's code.

Insurance

Coverage That Names You

$2M per occurrence. $4M aggregate. We issue Certificates of Insurance listing your company, the event host, and the venue as additional insured — usually the same day you ask.

Sterile Setup Process

Workstation Sanitation Protocol

Our assistants prep, clean, and monitor each artist station. Workstations are reset under clinical guidelines between every single guest.

Hospital-grade Cleaners

Tables, chairs, lights, and armrests get a double wipe-down with EPA-registered disinfectants (Cavicide, Madacide) between every guest.

Full Impervious Barriers

Every surface is wrapped — dental bibs, cling wrap, machine sleeves. Nothing cross-contaminates.

Blister Pack Openings

Needle cartridges, ink caps, and skin prep materials stay sealed until the guest is in the chair. Sterilization indicator strips are visible on every pack.

Digital Consent System

Waivers, Age Verification, Sobriety

Guests scan a QR code, sign a digital waiver, show ID (strict 18+ for permanent ink), and pick their flash on an iPad. Our hosts run sobriety checks at the queue — if someone's had too much, they get moved down the list. Discreetly, no confrontation.

ID Verification: Digital scan confirms 18+ for permanent ink.

Health Screening: Hard checks for pregnancy, blood thinners, skin conditions, allergies.

Aftercare: Instructions emailed the moment the waiver signs.

FAQs

The questions venues, agencies, and legal teams ask us most. Need the long answer? Book a call.

Do you handle permits and insurance?

Yes — 100%. We manage all health department permits for your city (which can take 30 to 60 days for large events), carry $2M liability insurance, and add your company or venue as additional insured. Every artist carries a current, valid license.

Can we see a sample Certificate of Insurance before we book?

Yes. Send your venue's insurance requirements to hello@tattoopopups.com and we'll have a COI listing you and the venue as additional insured within the same day. $2M per occurrence, $4M aggregate.

Are your artists Bloodborne Pathogen certified?

Every artist, every event. We verify current BBP certification before each activation and handle individual practitioner registrations with the local health department for each city we work in.

What if someone faints or has a reaction during a tattoo?

We stop immediately, clean the area, and call for medical help if needed. Artists are first-aid trained and the assistant carries a stocked first-aid kit. Designs are screened for low-allergen-risk inks and short sessions.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Every artist is licensed with current Bloodborne Pathogen training. Single-use equipment on every guest. $2M liability insurance, with your company added as additional insured. We've given thousands of tattoos across five years. Zero safety incidents.

What if our venue has specific safety or insurance requirements?

Tell us up front. We've met hotel brand standards, corporate campus security protocols, and venue-mandated COI language. We can usually turn around custom requirements inside 48 hours.

Who files with the health department?

We do. County body-art permits, health department applications, artist credentialing — filed and tracked by our ops team. You get one compliance packet, not a dozen vendor email threads.

Is tattooing legal at private residences?

In most counties, yes — with a temporary body-art permit filed for the address. We handle that paperwork for home parties and estate events.

What age do guests need to be?

18+ with valid government ID. No exceptions, no parental consent waivers for minors getting tattooed.

Do you use sterile, single-use equipment?

Every guest, every time. Single-use needles, tubes where applicable, and fully sterilized reusable grips per industry standard. Opened in front of the guest.

Still have questions?

Send the venue's insurance requirements to hello@tattoopopups.com. We'll send back the COI and a draft permit plan within 24 hours.
