Henna tattoo bar for events — beautiful body art without the permanence
Henna and jagua body art give your guests the look and feel of a real tattoo without the lifetime commitment. Many people searching "henna tattoo" want the experience and the aesthetic without the permanence — and henna delivers exactly that. We offer traditional henna, contemporary styles, white henna, jagua (blue-black, closest to real ink), and custom temporary tattoos. Key selling point: Henna, jagua, and temporary tattoo services don't require health department permits. No county temporary body art facility permit, no fire marshal sign-off, no venue paperwork hurdles. Lower barrier for corporate events, family-friendly festivals, hotels, and community gatherings. Available nationwide.

When to choose a henna bar instead of a real tattoo station
A real tattoo station is perfect for brand activations, weddings, and private events where guests want permanent ink. But not every event is right for real tattoos. Henna and temporary body art are the right choice when:
- Corporate events & team building — lower commitment, no permits required, higher participation rates from employees who wouldn't get a real tattoo
- Family-friendly festivals & kid-friendly events — henna is safe for ages 3+, no age restrictions, no parental consent forms needed
- Kids parties & birthday celebrations — the most popular add-on for children's events; natural henna is gentle and fun
- Multicultural celebrations — bridal showers, mehndi nights, Eid festivals, Diwali celebrations, quinceañeras, and cultural heritage events
- Company picnics & holiday parties — low-barrier entertainment that appeals to all ages and comfort levels
- School events, college orientations & campus activations — no health permits needed, high student engagement
- Brand activations at family-oriented events — henna bars drive foot traffic and social sharing without the regulatory overhead of real tattooing
- Wellness retreats, spas & recovery events — henna aligns with wellness-focused programming; jagua is a popular choice for retreat markets
Types of henna body art we offer
We run four types of henna and temporary body art at our events. Each has a different look, feel, and duration — and most events book a mix so guests can choose their preferred style.
Traditional henna (brown-orange stain, lasts 1–3 weeks)
Natural henna paste made from Lawsonia inermis leaves. Applied in intricate patterns — floral, geometric, mandala, and freehand custom designs. The stain develops over 24–48 hours from pale orange to deep brown-orange. Lasts 1–3 weeks depending on placement and aftercare. Best for: multicultural celebrations, bridal events, wellness retreats, and guests who want an authentic henna experience.
White henna (body-safe adhesive, looks like lace, lasts 3–10 days)
A white body-safe adhesive applied in the same intricate patterns as traditional henna. Creates a lace-like effect on the skin. Lasts 3–10 days. Best for: weddings, bridal showers, photo-heavy events, and guests who want a striking visual without the brown-orange stain.
Jagua (blue-black stain, lasts 7–14 days, closest look to a real tattoo)
Jagua is a fruit-based gel from the Amazon that stains the skin blue-black — the closest temporary look to a real tattoo. The stain develops over 24–48 hours. Lasts 7–14 days. Best for: corporate events, brand activations, festivals, and guests who want the look of a real tattoo without the commitment.
Custom temporary tattoos (look like real ink, last 3–7 days)
High-definition custom-printed temporary tattoos that look like real ink (not the kid's-party kind). We design and print custom sheets for your event — your logo, your event theme, your branding, your flash designs. Lasts 3–7 days. Best for: brand activations, corporate events, company picnics, and events where branded body art is the goal.
Tattoo Popups vs. solo tattoo artist
You'll find both in this market. Here's what you actually get with each.
| Tattoo Popups | Solo tattoo artist | |
|---|---|---|
| Crew size | 4 people per station (artist, assistant, host, coordinator) | 1 person |
| Tattoos per hour | 3–5 per artist, sustained | 1–1.5 per hour |
| Insurance | $2M occurrence / $4M aggregate, COI on request | Often none — your venue won't accept it |
| Permits | We file the county health permit, the fire marshal sign-off, and the venue paperwork | You handle it (or they do, slowly) |
| Flash sheet | Custom, designed for your event | Generic sheet, or guest brings their own (slower) |
| Guest experience | Digital check-in, no line, aftercare included | Paper waivers, queue, no aftercare |
| Best for | Weddings, brand activations, private parties, hotel programming, festivals, corporate events | Small private sessions (1–5 guests, no event) |
If you have 5 close friends and a backyard in Carpinteria, a solo artist might beperfect. If you have 40+ guests, a wedding, a brand, or a hotel, a popup is the only model that holds up.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a henna bar for events cost?
Pricing is a flat fee per event, not per guest — and it's significantly lower than a real tattoo station because the equipment costs and insurance requirements are lower. Book a 30-minute call and we'll send a detailed proposal within 24 hours. Most henna events run 2–4 hours with 1–2 artists.
Do henna bars need permits?
No. Henna, jagua, and temporary tattoo services do not break the skin and do not require health department permits, county temporary body art facility permits, or fire marshal sign-offs. This is the single biggest advantage of a henna bar over a real tattoo station — especially for corporate events, hotel programming, and family-friendly festivals where the venue's insurance and permitting requirements are the main barrier.
How long does henna last?
Traditional henna lasts 1–3 weeks. Jagua lasts 7–14 days. White henna lasts 3–10 days. Custom temporary tattoos last 3–7 days. Duration depends on placement, aftercare, and how often the area is washed or exposed to water.
Is henna safe for kids?
Yes. Natural henna (Lawsonia inermis) is safe for ages 3 and up. We use only natural, body-safe henna paste — no PPD, no black henna additives. Our jagua gel is fruit-based and body-safe. For children under 3, we recommend the custom temporary tattoos instead.
Can you do custom designs?
Yes. Custom designs for your event theme, your branding, your logo, your celebration — floral, geometric, contemporary, freehand. We also design and print custom temporary tattoo sheets with your artwork. Same custom process as our real-tattoo flash sheets, just in henna and temp formats.
What's the difference between henna and jagua?
Henna stains the skin orange-brown (think the classic mehndi look). Jagua stains blue-black — much closer to the look of a real tattoo. Both are temporary and body-safe. Many guests prefer jagua if they want the aesthetic of a real tattoo without the permanence.
How many guests can you serve per hour?
Henna is faster than tattooing. Each artist serves 4–6 guests per hour, depending on design complexity. For a 3-hour event with 2 artists, expect 24–36 guests served. Custom temporary tattoos are even faster at 10–15 per hour.
Can you serve both henna and real tattoos at the same event?
Yes. Multi-station setup is our standard model. One station runs the henna/jagua bar, another runs the real tattoo station. Guests choose their preferred experience. This is especially popular at corporate events and festivals where some guests want permanent ink and others want the temporary option.
What cities do you serve?
We're nationwide with permanent crew in Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, and Las Vegas. We travel to every major US market and international destinations. See the full city list on our service pages.
